Anybody has a HTC g1[dream]

The HTC Dream or the T-mobile G1{Same phones} runs on android 1.6..And it kinda sucks so here are the steps to upgrade to android 2.1{Froyo} or more

Essentially modding the phone is summarized as:

1. Downgrade to RC29.
2. Obtain root access via telnet
3. Flash recovery.img using telnet command
4. Install Radio image, DangerSPL, Cyanogen mod, then google apps
5. Setup Apps2SD
Files, download these first before you get started, preferably all in the same folder so you don’t forget
RC29 – http://android-dls.com/files/upload/DREAIMG.nbh
Amon RA Custom Recovery Image – http://rapidshare.com/files/387558151/recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0.img
Radio Image – http://www.mediafire.com/?zgnzmex2mrj
Danger SPL – http://sapphire-port-dream.googlecode.com/files/spl-signed.zip
Cyanogen mod – http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_version#Current_Stable_Version_2
Google Apps – http://kanged.net/mirror/download.php?file=gapps-ds-ERE36B-signed.zip
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Begin Cyanogen Mod steps <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
1. Downgrade to RC29
a – Backup any files on your SD card that are valuable to you (you can copy them to your PC’s hard drive)
b – Format your SD card to FAT32, either do it from the phone or from withing your OS
c – Put DREAIMG.nbh onto blank SD card d – Turn your phone off.
e – Hold down the Camera button, and press the Power button once, wait until the bootloader starts up.
f – At the top it should read “Dreaming.nbh”, flash the image to the phone by pressing the power button.
g – wait til it finishes then press the trackball, you should see a red, green, blue, and white screen.
h – Reboot by pressing Call, Menu, and Power buttons at the same time, (just press, you don’t need to hold them down) you may need to unplug your phone.
2. Obtain root access
a – Boot up phone setup Google account
b – At home screen press Enter key twice
c – Type telnetd and hit enter
d – Go to android market and install “Telnet” by ClockworkMod
e – Open Android Telnet Client, enter “localhost” in the large text box and press connect to server.
3. Load custom recovery image
a – Put the ‘recovery.img’ file on your SD card
b – unplug phone from PC
c – Open Android Telnet Client and type: flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img and hit enter
d – If completed correctly you will simply see # # appear on your screen beneath the line you’ve just typed. If you get the “permission denied” message, type “su” (without quotes), press enter and repeat the previous step. If you get a file not found message, you may need to remount your sd card or make sure you typed the file name correctly.
e – Press Home key and go to step 4.
4. Install Radio, Danger SPL, CM5 and google apps
a – Copy G1-radio-2_22_23_02.zip to your sdcard.
b – Reboot/Boot into your custom recovery by holding down the ‘home’ key and then press the power button on. You will see the G1 splash screen, let go of the power button but keep holding the Home key until you see the Android recovery console.
c- Under the recovery select “install any zip” and choose the G1-radio zip file# The radio will partially install and tell you to reboot, do so now.
d – The radio will continue installing, possibly showing an HTC logo screen or a box->phone screen. This may take up to two minutes and then the radio install script will reboot you back into recovery. Reboot again back into phone and copy: DangerSPL (spl-signed.zip), CM 5.0.x (update-cm-5.0.8-DS-signed.zip), and gapps-ds-ERE36B over to phone, then reboot into the recovery console again.
e – Flash DangerSPL (spl-signed.zip). It will install and then ask you to reboot to finish the installation,
f – After the SPL finishes installing and the phone will reboot back into recovery console again on its own.
g – Do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
i – Flash CM 5.0.X (x being whatever version is the latest version)
j – Flash gapps-ds-ERE36B
k – Reboot, do not interrupt the phone as the first time it loads up after loading CM5 it will take longer than normal
L – Complete Google account setup.
5. Setup Apps2SD.
Note: Cyanogenmod.com recommends a class 4 or higher, preferably class 6 micro SD. I currently use a 8GB Kingston Class 6 micro SDHC. I have only used Apps2SD with that card and if you have anything less than a class 4, they don’t suggest you try it.
a – Reboot into recovery console by holding Home after hitting power
b – select the option for Partition SD card on the main list and again in the partition list.
c – Set Swap to 64 MB, and ext2 to 512 mb, then wait for partitioning to complete.
d – reboot and then go to settings, under applications check the box for install all new apps to the SD card.
What if something goes wrong? phone hangs? skipped a step? oops… FAIL?
Start over:
HOW TO UNROOT YOUR PHONE / PLACE PHONE BACK TO STOCK
1 Download the DREAIMG.nbh: http://android-roms.googlecode.com/files/DREAIMG-RC29.zip
2 Place “DREAIMG.nbh” on the root of your SD card.
3 Turn your phone off.
4 Start up in bootloader mode by holding Camera & pressing Power.
5 Hit power button to start the update.
6 Once the install completes hit action(trackball down) & your phone will reboot.

Hope It Helped. Please do subscribe if you found this INFORMATIVE
